Waggonner & Ball Wins Seven AIA Louisiana Design Excellence Awards

September 2010   |   Waggonner & Ball Architects
St. Anselm Catholic Church in Madisonville, Louisiana, recipient of an AIA Louisiana 2010 Honor Award. Jury comment: "Sacred space, articulated interior defined by diffused light, compelling section, not monumental but still powerful. The integrity of this project is evident in the succinct yet complex resolution of the program. This building is refreshingly free of clichés."
Federal Courthouse renovation and addition, Natchez, Mississippi, recipient of an AIA Louisiana 2010 Merit Award. Jury comment: "The jury felt that the architect for this project succeeded very well in achieving a fit between the program and the preexisting architectural asset. The formal additions to the historic structure are handled with a great deal of sophistication."

The Louisiana Chapter of the American Institute of Architects has selected seven Waggonner & Ball projects for 2010 design excellence awards in recognition of the firm's varied work in restoration, new construction, and master planning. Projects selected for Merit Awards are the new Brother Martin High School Meyer Science & Mathematics building, the new Mignon Faget Baton Rouge store, and the Federal Courthouse renovation and addition in Natchez, Mississippi.  Projects selected for Honor Awards are the new St. Mary's Dominican High School Siena Center, the new St. Anselm Catholic Church, Rayne Memorial United Methodist Church restoration, and the Dutch Dialogues Water Planning effort.  The Rayne restoration also won a Divine Detail award for its careful attention to the church's historic details.
