Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar at the Lafitte Greenway on December 14th, 2011.
The Lafitte Corridor revitalization project has been selected to receive priority federal funding from the Department of the Interior. Seven projects were selected nationally through the America's Great Outdoors initiative. Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar made the announcement at the Lafitte Corridor on December 14th.
"Because this project has been selected as one of the seven priority projects in the United States of America, and that's a pretty big place, you will have priority in the funding even during these tough times," Salazar said.
Waggonner & Ball developed a Sustainable Water Design proposal for the corridor in 2010, and the concept of Living with Water continues to play a central role in the design of this new public space.
