St. Mary’s Dominican High School

Work for this all-female institution encompasses the entire campus in Uptown New Orleans, constructed more than forty years ago. The existing gymnasium and cafeteria were renovated and an addition was designed to incorporate a student activities center, music department, bookstore, locker rooms and multipurpose classroom. This project, the O’Farrell Student Center, was awarded the 1995 Honor Award by AIA Gulf States; 1995 Honor Award by AIA Louisiana; and the 1995 Honor Award by AIA New Orleans. The school’s library was renovated in the summer of 1997, remaining circa-1960 mechanical equipment has been updated, and related building and site improvements completed. The Master Plan was updated in 2002, and identified the need for a new gymnasium and athletic facility, an arts complex and a school chapel. The new Gymnasium and Athletic Facility, the Siena Center, completed in 2006, provides a 1200 seat competition gymnasium with running track, plus weight room, locker rooms, dance studio, training room, seminar rooms and offices.
